The creative atelier is a compact studio housing a cosmos of ideas – sketches, photographs, materials – everything needed for a private universe. It’s a microcosm where every fantasy takes form.
For 22 years now, the architect – whose very education began with journeys, photographs, and sketches of buildings encountered – can be found with camera and well-traveled sketchbook in hand. Seek him on the 222 steps of Paris’s Théâtre du Châtelet, before the columns of the Prado, amidst the yacht marinas of the Tagus Estuary, or near Kamchatka’s smoking volcanoes.
For this architect, drawing, sculptural thinking (through modeling), and photography are far more than hobbies; they are vital, inseparable tools of the trade and the creative mind.
materials & tools
Sketchbook, brushes, paints, and camera – these are the sacred tools of the trade. Drawing and photography are ways of seeing, thinking, designing. They may spark an idea or chase its shadow, yet never leave the hand of creation.
Materials of choice: coffee stains, watercolor blooms, ink-lines, marker strokes, pastel whispers, sanguine smudges, conté’s depth, acrylic rivers, oil’s slow dance, gilded flakes, and fragments of magazines, brochures, photos, books – anything that can be collaged, combined, and kissed by glue.
